On April 24, an unlocked 2009 Chevy parked outside of 24-Hour Fitness on Route 4 East was burglarized. A laptop computer, wallet and credit cards were stolen from the vehicle. Paramus Detective Doug Ohlendorf, with the assistance of Sergeant Steven Tibus of the Edgewater Police Department, identified the robbery suspect as Mike A. Alvarez, 23, of North Bergen. The detectives also have evidence linking Alvarez to at least one other car burglary from February, involving the theft of a wallet and credit cards from a 2013 BMW, parked at the same 24-Hour Fitness.

Paramus Police arrested Alvarez without incident, in a parking lot on Tonnelle Ave. in North Bergen. He was charged with two counts of burglary to auto, two counts of theft of credit cards and two counts of theft, and later released on $5000.00 bail.

Paramus Police had previously arrested Christopher Gallo, also in connection with the 24-Hour Fitness thefts involving lockers and vehicles.
