Call-Us-Clowns, Inc., a group of clown volunteers which appears at area hospitals, nursing homes, libraries, senior and day care centers, schools and various walk-a-thons and other charitable events, is hosting a basic training clown course required for new members. The course begins on Monday, March 31, and runs for eight weeks. Classes will meet one day a week on Mondays, from 1 to 4 p.m. in Hackensack.

No experience is needed to join and training will be provided. All that is required is the time and desire to serve the community as a clown volunteer.

This course is staffed by experienced clowns and will cover the following topics: clown make-up, costumes, the clown persona, clown history, clown movement, balloon sculpture, face painting, juggling, magic and other tools and skills of the caring clown.

There is a $100 one-time fee which covers materials, including a basic makeup kit and CUC membership dues.

For more information or to apply, call 201-805-2567. Enrollment ends on March 14 and class space is limited so early registration is encouraged. For additional information, visit www.callusclowns.org.
