Bergen County Prosecutor John L. Molinelli announced the arrest of JOSE COMACHO (DOB: 02/23/1974) of 290 Passaic Street, Hackensack, New Jersey on a charge of Endangering the Welfare of a Child.  The arrest is the result of an investigation conducted by members of the Bergen County Prosecutor=s Office Special Victims Unit under the direction of Chief Carmen MARTINO and the Hackensack Police Department under the direction of Director Michael MORDAGA.

On January 29, 2015, members of the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Special Victims Unit and the Hackensack Police Department arrested Jose COMACHO after learning that he physically assaulted a six (6) year old male acquaintance.  The victim sustained bruising to his back and forehead during that incident.  The Hackensack Police Department learned of the incident and notified the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Special Victims Unit.  Arrangements were then made for the victim to be interviewed by a detective from the Special Victims Unit at the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office in Paramus, New Jersey.  During that interview, the victim provided specific details regarding what had occurred with Mr. COMACHO.  The ensuing investigation resulted in the arrest of Mr. COMACHO.

Jose COMACHO was charged with one (1) count of Endangering the Welfare of a Child.  Bail for Mr. COMACHO was set by the Honorable Edward A. Jerejian, J.S.C., at $50,000.00 with no ten percent option, no contact with the victim and the surrender of his passport as a condition of bail.  Mr. COMACHO was remanded to the Bergen County Jail in lieu of bail.

Prosecutor Molinelli states that these charges are merely accusations and that the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt. Prosecutor Molinelli would also like to thank the Hackensack Police Department for their assistance in this investigation.
