Dr. David Landers Honored at the American Heart Association’s 20th Annual Affair of the Heart Ball

dr honored at AHA eventDavid Landers, M.D., vice chair, Heart & Vascular Hospital at Hackensack Meridian Health Hackensack University Medical Center, has been named Physician of the Year by the American Heart Association at its Annual Affair of the Heart Ball.  The 20th Annual Affair of the Heart Ball was held Saturday, June 3, at The Grove in Cedar Grove, NJ, and chaired by Joseph E. Parrillo, M.D., Justice Marie L. Garibaldi Endowed Chair; chair, Heart & Vascular Hospital, Hackensack University Medical Center.

“Dr. Landers is very deserving of the Physician of the Year award by the American Heart Association because of his compassion, empathy and sympathy for his patients.  His outstanding knowledge as a cardiologist supports his impressive ability to analyze clinical problems and devise a correct diagnosis and treatment plan,” said Dr. Parrillo.

The Heart & Vascular Hospital, Hackensack University Medical Center’s “hospital within a hospital” provides a full-range of state-of-the-art invasive and non-invasive services, including electrophysiology studies, a state-designated cardiac catheterization and intervention center, a structural heart disease program performing cutting-edge valve replacement or repair without surgery, an advanced heart failure program offering ventricular assist devices (VADs), and one of the largest cardiac surgery programs in the state. Inpatients and outpatients are treated for all types of cardiac and vascular diseases by an array of specialists—all from one central location. This collaborative, multidisciplinary model allows for more efficient and effective care.

The American Heart Association’s 2017 Affair of the Heart Ball attracted more than 400 attendees.  The event is a celebration of the mission, passion, work, and life-changing and life-saving achievements of the American Heart Association | American Stroke Association and its remarkable community of volunteer advocates, champions and leaders.  The Affair of the Heart Ball recognizes and celebrates excellence in heart and stroke science, research, health care, treatment and community involvement; innovative and life-changing work that enables people from all walks of life to live healthier, stronger, longer lives.
