A 24-year-old Hackensack man has been arrested and charged with allegedly kidnapping and raping a 14-year-old girl.
On April 11, members of the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Special Victims Unit and the Hackensack Police Department arrested Darion Benbow, of Clinton Place, after learning that he allegedly engaged in inappropriate sexual activity with a young acquaintance. Benbow picked up the victim at Shop Rite in Rochelle Park earlier that day and brought her to his home in Hackensack. He then served her an alcoholic beverage before engaging in sexual activity with her against her will. The victim was eventually able to contact a friend and leave. The girl and her friend told a Hackensack police officer what had occurred and she was transported to the Hackensack Police Department to provide a statement. During an interview with detectives from the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Special Victims Unit, the victim provided specific details as to what had occurred at Benbow’s home, reports said.
He was subsequently arrested and charged with aggravated sexual assault, kidnapping, endangering the welfare of a child and providing alcohol to a minor, reports said.
