At approximately 9:47 a.m. on Sept. 17, Paramus police responded to the Windsor Preparatory High School on Midland Avenue following a report of a student carrying a gun.
Upon arrival, officers met with school staff who reported that a student was walking suspiciously in the hallways. When approached by the staff, the 17-year-old Newark resident admitted that he was toting an unloaded Astra .22-caliber revolver.
The student was turned over to the Paramus Police Department who charged him with possession of a weapon for unlawful purpose and possession of a firearm on school property and transported him to the Bergen County Juvenile Detention Center in Teterboro. Paramus detectives are investigating the matter further.
