Maywood Legionnaires Spread Kindness

TOY DRMembers of Maywood American Legion Post 142 recently delivered two truckloads of gifts to the ladies and children at Shelter Our Sisters, an organization which helps victims of domestic abuse.  The American Legion and Sons of the American Legion collected new, unwrapped toys to fulfill the wish lists of more than 50 children, while the Ladies Auxiliary collected gifts for the women. They included toiletries and cosmetics, clothes and appliances.  This was the 13th consecutive year that the American Legion has organized a toy drive and the 10th year donating to Shelter Our Sisters.  Donors included River Edge American Legion Post 226 and Kmart of Lodi.  Pictured: John Hayes, commander, Sons of American Legion; Andy Liso, toy drive chairman; Donna Destefano, vice president, Ladies Auxiliary; Lou Destafano; and Brendon Bode.
