At approximately 2:30 a.m. on Nov. 12, the Paramus Fire Department, led by Fire Chief Craig Hopkins, responded to Toys R Us, 634 Route 17 North, on the report of a fire.

Upon arrival, firefighters discovered fire and heavy smoke in the second floor stockroom of the store. Firefighters were able to extinguish the fire in approximately 30 minutes, while the store’s automatic fire sprinkler system kept the fire contained. All Paramus fire and rescue companies, as well as the Oradell Fire Department, responded to the two-alarm fire. The Washington Township, Rochelle Park, Saddle Brook and Fair Lawn forces provided manpower to cover the borough’s firehouses.

Fire units remained on the scene until 4:45 a.m. The Paramus Fire Prevention Unit and Paramus police detectives are investigating the cause of the fire.  No injuries were reported.
