Paramus police have arrested a Haledon man suspected of committing a string of burglaries in the borough.
Ahmet Islami, 21, was arrested on April 21 following a lengthy investigation led by Paramus Detective Michael Kelly and Detective Sgt. Frank Scott.
The case focuses on a rash of home burglaries in Paramus and the surrounding communities beginning last December through February. Noticing a pattern, Paramus detectives shared this information with other forces, and on Jan. 2, the Hawthorne Police Department arrested Islami while allegedly committing a residential burglary in that community. On April 21, Paramus detectives had developed enough evidence linking Islami to at least two Paramus residential burglaries and arrested him at his parents’ Haledon home. The first occurred on Dec. 16, 2013, in the area of Godwin Road, and the second occurred on Dec. 20, 2013, in the area of Mason Place. He was charged with two counts of burglary and two counts of theft.
