The Paramus Weight-Loss Challenge event recently concluded with resounding success. Paramus residents took up the challenge to lose 500 pounds in 12 weeks and they surpassed the goal with a total loss of 770 pounds.
Back in March, the Mayors Wellness Campaign, the Paramus Board of Health, Gold’s Gym of Paramus, and The Valley Hospital issued town-wide challenges to help make Paramus healthier. Residents were encouraged to sign up to help reach the goal of losing 500 pounds in 12 weeks.
Throughout the challenge, participants took part in bi-weekly weigh-ins, health and nutrition lectures, and fitness classes. “The goal of the challenge was to help residents become more aware of their health, and to encourage them to make a change towards healthier lifestyles,” said Danielle Cinnante, a health educator with Valley’s Department of Community Health and Community Benefit. “We like to emphasize that this was not about dieting, it was about learning to live a healthy lifestyle and supporting each other while doing it!”
