Suspected Car Burglar Nabbed

            At approximately 3:40 a.m. on Aug. 8, Maywood Police Officer Jason Liaban saw a man carrying a duffel bag and acting suspiciously in the area of Maywood and East Magnolia avenues.  Liaban noticed that the man resembled the description of a suspect wanted for committing car burglaries and thefts in Hasbrouck Heights and surrounding communities.  Liaban’s investigation revealed that the man, identified as Matthew Jolls, 20, of Lodi, was carrying several GPS units, other electronics and loose change.  Liaban later found the owner of one of the GPS units and verified that it was his. As the investigation continued, additional victims came forward and identified their belongings, police said.

Jolls was arrested and charged with multiple counts of burglary, theft and possession of burglary tools, reports said.

Residents in the area are asked to check their vehicles and report any items that may be missing to the Maywood Police Department at 201-845-8800 some recovered belongings remain unclaimed.
