The Paramus Police Department has arrested Elizabeth Loayza-Rios, 47, of Union City and Emily Hester, 2, of Paterson, for separate incidents of home thefts.
Two homes in the Duke Drive area reported jewelry thefts in March and April of this year. Lead Detective Craig McEllen quickly determined that both homes had employed Elizabeth Loayza-Rios as a housekeeper and evidence was obtained linking Loayza-Rios to the thefts. On April 22, Loayza-Rios turned herself in to Paramus Police Headquarters where she was charged with both thefts, booked and released on her own recognizance.
In the second case, a residence on Roosevelt Blvd., reported theft of several credit cards. Detective McEllen, also the lead investigator, was able to track the use of the stolen credit cards to Emily Hester. Hester had worked for the 88-year-old home owner as a health aid worker and turned herself in to Paramus Police where she was charged with theft and fraudulent use of credit cards. She was booked then released on her own recognizance.
Anyone with further information on either of these cases is asked to call the Paramus Police Detective Division at 201-262-3400 ext. 553.
