At approximately 11:53 p.m. on Feb. 25, the Paramus Police Department responded to a motor vehicle crash in the area of Route 4 East and Forest Avenue. When officers arrived at the scene, they learned that a motorist, identified as Natalie Garcia, 22, of Garfield, had exited the parking lot of Miller’s Ale House then proceeded to drive the wrong way, traveling west in the eastbound lanes of Route 4.
A short time later, Garcia’s Nissan Altima allegedly struck two cars head on. First she struck a silver 2002 Toyota Camry driven by Joshua Octviano, 18, of Bergenfield. Octviano was driving eastbound in the center lane. Then Garcia hit a green 1999 Toyota Avalon driven by Errol Gayle, 50, of Teaneck, who was driving in the left lane of Route 4 eastbound. Gayle suffered moderate injuries and was transported to Hackensack University Medical Center.
Garcia was arrested at the scene and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol and/or controlled dangerous substances and reckless driving. Other charges are pending.
